USS Minneapolis Saint Paul (LCS 21) Change of Command

The Minnesota Navy League is pleased to announce that USS Minneapolis Saint Paul conducted a change command on Monday, September 19, 2022.

Cmdr. Hiram Andreu assumed command of USS Minneapolis Saint Paul (LCS 21) from Cmdr. Alfonza White.  Cmdr. White took command of LCS 21 during its workup phase, visited Minnesota at the State Capitol and the Duluth Airshow in June 2021, and took USS Minneapolis Saint Paul through its workup phase and delivery to the Navy.

Cmdr. White read his orders and placed USS Minneapolis Saint Paul (LCS 21) in commission on May 21, 2022 in Duluth, MN.

Fair winds and following seas to Cmdr. White.  The Minnesota Navy League wishes you well on your next assignment. 

Cmdr. Hiram Andreu graduated from Colegio Santiago Apostol, Fajardo PR in 1983. He entered the United States Navy in October 1987.


In 2003, he commissioned under the Limited Duty Officer program and reported onboard USS VICKSBURG (CG 69) to serve as the Electronics Material Officer. 

In 2009, he laterally converted to Surface Warfare Officer (1110) and served as the Exchange Officer (PEP) in Cartagena, Colombia. His first Department Head tour was as Combat Systems Officer onboard USS SIMPSON (FFG 56). His second Department Head tour was as Combat Systems Officer onboard USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66). His Executive Officer tour was onboard USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CG 58).

Ashore, he served as Executive Officer to the Deputy J3 and Command and Control Officer, United States Central Command in Tampa.

He is a graduate of the Naval War College, Newport RI and has completed JPME I and II.

His awards include a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation and Achievement Medals, and numerous unit awards.
